Content: The Hong Kong and China Gas Company Limited (Towngas) was founded in 1862 and was the first public utility in Hong Kong. As for business on the Mainland China, the Company has acquired over 80 business joint venture operations for providing gas supply services to over 9 million customers there. As the Government of the Mainland China has significant concerns over environmental protection in the country, thus natural gas is considered as one of the cleanest fossil fuels and is generally promoted in the community. To capture these new business opportunities, more and more foreign enterprises set up joint-venture companies with local / state-owned gas utilities. This changing business mode poses new challenge to gas enterprises in particular the HSE concerns caused by these operations. This seminar will share experience in implementing HSE management systems in Towngas under the new challenge on the Mainland China the locomotive driving the sustainable development of the relatively higher risk business and operations beyond the Hong Kong territory.
