Content: Piper Alpha, Herald of Free Enterprise, and Clapham Train Crash – a number of tactic accidents in UK occurred one following the other. The common cause of these accidents, apart from the obvious oversight of management, was the lack of prosecution to either individuals or organisations on manslaughter. In UK, the Corporate Manslaughter and Corporate Homicide Act of 2007 is being enacted to close loophole of the legislation. The Act intends to facilitate prosecutions to corporate organizations that could be responsible for deaths caused by their business activities. However, the deterrent effect and the applicability of the Act remain to be seen. This seminar aims to share experience in the implementation of the Act in UK and discusses on how it raises awareness of corporate responsibility.
