Content: The section of Hong Kong Link Road (HKLR) serves to connect the HZMB Main Bridge at the HKSAR boundary and the portal of the Scenic Hill Tunnel at the Hong Kong International Airport Island. The section of HKLR is basically a dual 3-lane carriageway in the form of viaduct of approximately 9.4km in length over the open sea and also partially on the Airport Island. This is a design and build contract awarded to Dragages-China Harbour-VSL Joint Venture under Highways Department Contract No. HY/2001/09. There is a variety of challenges, marine conditions, navigation requirements, airport height restriction, logistics, noise, ecological and cultural heritage impacts anticipated in this project. The project team needs to overcome these challenges by sustainable project management, advanced design, and specialized construction methods. In this visit, you can see a range of bridge construction activities and the safety control measures in dealing with those associated risks, for example, use of marine vessels and heavy plants etc. It will be a boat trip visit which offers opportunities for participants to have deeper understanding to the project.
