Michael Cusack
Chair
Michael Cusack is the Health & Safety
Executive at Inland Fisheries Ireland. He has managed health and
safety in Fisheries since 2005. He has past experience in both the
public and private sector having been employed as a safety
professional by Intel Ireland and Mayo County Council. Michael
holds a MSc. Environmental Health and Safety Management. He is also
involved in facilities management and became a Member of the Irish
Property and Facilities Management Association in
2011. |

John G McNamara
Member
John is National Health and Safety Officer with Teagasc, the
state Research, Education and Training and Advisory Authority for
Agriculture and Food in Ireland.
John’s areas of Expertise include:
• holds a Masters Degree in Agricultural Science and a
university Diploma in Safety , Health and Welfare at Work
• has 31 years experience in Agricultural Education,
Adult Education, Specialist Advice, Research and Management,
particularly related to OHS
• is a current member of the statutory advisory committee for
the agriculture sector to the Health and Safety Authority in
Ireland
• current Research projects include: management of
occupational health and safety by self employed farmers;
occupational health of farmers and livestock safety
• other affiliations: associate member of National Institute
of Farm Safety
(USA).

Bob Seaward

Gerard Mawn
Member
Gerard holds a diploma in health and safety management at work
and is a Group Safety Manager with Coillte, the Irish Forestry
Board.
He is a professional Forester with 38 years of experience in
forestry and tree work operations, is a member of the Society of
Irish Foresters and has held positions as instructor, assessor and
verifier with the National Proficiency Test Council (NPTC) of Great
Britain in forest and tree work skills.
Gerard’s area of experience include:
- health and safety management in a large semi-state
organisation
- has vast experience in course development, training and
standard setting for the forest and tree work industry
- has wide experience in safety management, safety auditing,
accident investigation/accident management systems and
litigation/expert witness
- the development and implementation of safety management systems
across a wide range of diverse and geographical business units
- the development of safety statements and risk assessment
programme
- experience of safety solutions in the agricultural sector
- member of HSA region advisory committee
- member of Farm Safety Partnership Advisory Committee
(FSPAC)
- member of National Irish Safety Organisation -- Life member

Ciaran Roach
Member
Ciaran is a risk manager with FBD
Insurance and has a Degree in Agricultural Science, a
Higher Diploma in Safety, Health and Welfare at Work, a Diploma in
Insurance Practices and is a member of the Farm Safety Partnership
Advisory Committee to the Health and Safety Authority. He is
responsible for developing FBDs risk management policies and works
very closely with the company’s underwriting, claims and sales
departments and clients, providing them with practical risk
management and legal guidance. His other roles include surveying
businesses with high or unusual risks, producing risk management
literature and initiating all the company’s major health and safety
campaigns.

John has many years’ experience working in the
food and drink sector for Diageo, the multinational drinks company.
He has wide ranging expertise in Logistics and customer service and
more recently in the compliance area of the business where his
responsibilities included Environmental Heath and Safety and
Quality Management.
John is currently working as an independent
Consultant with Compliance Management Solutions specialising
in:
- Safety culture change
- Auditing and Control (management
systems)
- Compliance with legislation and
standards
- Quality Management
- Environmental Management

Anthony Morahan
Member
Inspector Health and Safety Authority
Prior to joining the Health and Safety
Authority Anthony was employed for 10 years in several technical
and managerial roles in the Agriculture/Food industry.
He holds Master Degrees in Agricultural
Science and Business Administration.
He has worked as a Compliance Inspector for
several years and more recently has worked in the Prevention
Unit of the HSA on initiatives in the Agriculture, Forestry and
Fishing sectors.
He is also a member of the Farm Safety
Partnership Advisory Committee.
