The Isle of Man Branch executive aims to promote
good health, safety and welfare practice on the Isle of Man. Our
primary aim is to always provide a quality service to our
membership.
Who are we?
Chairman: Tony Quayle MBA CMIOSH

Tony is the Health and Safety Manager for
Manx Telecom Limited. He has been involved in the
telecommunications industry for over 35 years and was previously
employed in the motor industry. Tony also sits on the Isle of Man
Government "Event Safety Advisory Group" He is "Event Safety
Officer" for Manx Auto Sport Limited. Tony's hobbies
include walking, DIY and watching motor sports including
F1, Moto GP and Rallying.
Vice Chairman: Stan
Yellop BA, MSc, CFIOSH, Chartered FCIPD, FITOL, RMaPS Chartered
Safety and Health Practitioner

Stan has had 20 years' experience in various
health and safety roles. His competence and capabilities have been
developed while engaged in health and safety management roles for
two major UK national construction companies and as a self-employed
consultant with a diverse client portfolio. He is the managing
director of Safety Management Services (IoM) Limited, an Isle of
Man consultancy practice.
Stan was instrumental in setting up
the Isle of Man Branch. He has been awarded the IOSH
President’s Distinguished Service Certificate and is currently a
member of the Institution’s Council of Management and sub-committee
for Initial Professional Development.
Secretary: Barbara O’Leary CMIOSH

Barbara is the Health and Safety Adviser for the
Department of Health and Social Security, a position she has held
for seven years. She previously worked as a health and
safety practitioner for Bexley Council, Southend-on-Sea Council and
Essex County Council. Before this, she worked for the Health
and Safety Executive in Sheffield.
Barbara's interests include world affairs,
equestrian pursuits, gardening and drawing.

Neil undertook formal training and industrial
experience as a plant and heavy goods mechanic for an Isle of Man
building and civil engineering contractor. He eventually became the
Plant and Equipment Manager for this company. Through
the knowledge and experience gained he became
interested in pursuing a career in health and safety.
Neil joined Safety Management Services (IoM) Limited in 2002
as a Health and Safety Consultant. I am now a Director of the
company and became a Chartered Member of IOSH in 2006
Executive Member: Nick Dernie
CMIOSH MCIOB CEnv RMAPS
Nick is
a safety practitioner and building consultant with over 25
years' experience in construction risk management,
diversifying into consultancy work on the Island over five years
ago. His hobbies include reading, walking and travelling.
Executive Member: Bob Brown
CMIOSH RMAPS
Bob is the
Health and Safety Manager for Auldyn Construction. He
previously held the position of Senior Health Inspector
(Construction) in the Health and Safety at Work Inspectorate.
He has been involved in the construction industry for over 30
years. He is a keen motorcyclist and sailor.

Howard Tech IOSH

Health & Safety Advisor at Dandara
Construction
Grant is trained and qualified as an Production/Manufacturing
Engineer and latterly as a Safety Practitioner. He is a Senior
Technical Official for the TT, MGP, S100 and Chief for Manx 2 Day
Trial and IOM round of the British Trials Championship.
Executive Member: Julie Joyce Grad

Health and Safety Manager at Sefton Group

Julie has worked in the Hospitality sector
since 1984 – moving into in health and safety late 2008
Julie has recently gained her level 4 in
occupational health and safety practice and hopes to achieve
chartered status in the near future
Julie interest include gardening, walking and
“Bulldogs”
Executive Member: Steve Dempsey Grad
IOSH
Steve has a
career in the construction industry spanning some 35 years to
date. During this period Steve has held various positions
progressing through the years.
Apprentice Joiner, Joiner, Site foreman, Site
Manager, Planner, Contract manager, Health and safety
Coordinator, Company Director
Involved in the planning and construction of
many notable projects on the island [leaving his mark]. Steve is a
well respected individual within the industry both professionally
and within the industry trades.
He is currently Chairman of the Chartered
Institute of Building [CIOB] on his second year in office. Also a
committee member of the CIOB North West Branch. Recently elected on
to the executive committee of the IOSH Isle of Man branch
Member of the Association of Project
management.
Executive Member:
Amanda Fairbairn Tech IOSH
Amanda is the Head Housekeeper at the Sefton
Hotel, of the Sefton group.
She has worked there for over 14 years in a
variety of roles, becoming Head Housekeeper in 2008, with
additional Duty Manager responsibilities and Health & Safety
Duties.
Her interests include craftwork, outdoor
activities and cookery.
Executive Member: Apostolis
(Tolis) Arkoudogiannis MSc, MIET, MIOSH

Environment Health and Safety Leader at GE
Aviation Systems Iloman Ltd.
Tolis worked in machine tool manufacturing and
aerospace as a qualified Mechanical/Manufacturing Engineer since
1996. He moved to EHS in 2007 and is currently working on his Level
4 in Occupational Health and Safety Practise. Tolis likes
gardening, walking and computers.
