Building Competencies in Occupational Hygiene
Overview
This event will be joint event with British Occupational Hygiene
Society (BOHS) and IOSH Met Branch with a presentation by
Roger Alesbury who is past president of BOHS.
Roger was also the Head of Occupational Hygiene for BP worldwide
until he retired last year.
The presentation, which will be followed by a brief Question and
Answers session, will outline the BOHS approach to building skills
in occupational hygiene and an international system of courses and
qualifications. The scheme has been developed to help health and
safety practioners build on their existing skills and enhance their
competencies in specialist areas of occupational hygiene.
Chris Beach, a past president of BOHS will be Chair for
this event.

occupational hygiene through continuing professional

Speakers
Roger Alesbury is a founder director of
the Occupational Hygiene Training Association (OHTA) and chairs its
Leadership Group. He spent most of his career working
internationally as an Occupational Hygienist in the oil and
chemical industries. For a decade prior to retirement, he was
Director and Global Head of Industrial Hygiene for BP. An engineer
by training, he has Masters in Occupational Hygiene from the London
School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine and recieved the BOHS
Diploma in Professional Competence in 1980. He is a Fellow of the
Faculty of Occupational Hygiene, Chartered Fellow of IOSH, a Past
President of the Institute of Occupational Hygienists and Past
President of BOHS.
