IOSH profile raised at Prosafe event in Doha, Qatar
28 September 2011
David Hayes, IOSH member and Country
co-ordinator for Qatar, represented IOSH at the Prosafe: Process
Safety Integrity event on Sunday 18 September in Doha.
David delivered the opening address, providing
an overview of IOSH and the importance of process safety, and
colleague and IOSH Qatar Vice Chair, Mohammed Al-Humaidi, attended
on the second day.
David is the temporary chair of the IOSH Qatar
group who are applying to become an IOSH branch.
Delegates had travelled from across the Middle East Region
including Oman, Abu Dhabi, Dubai and Saudi Arabia making this a
great opportunity for IOSH members, both delegates and speakers to
meet.
David found the event to be well organised,
with a variety of interesting presentations, highlighting in
particular a case study on “implementing a risk based process
safety framework to ensure stability of assets” presented by Carl
Sall of Abu Dhabi EHS centre.
Later in the day there was an extended
presentation by Richard Gowland, Technical Director of the European
Process Safety Centre, who spoke on” Layers of Protection Analysis
“(LOPA) that was also of great interest.
The next event in Qatar where IOSH will be
represented is the 7th HSE Forum in energy on 10 -12
October 2011 where President Elect Subash Ludhra will be
presenting.
