Welcome
Welcome to the IOSH Singapore Branch,
representing health and safety professionals in Singapore,
Indonesia and Malaysia.
Message from Harry Ho, Chairman:
Dear Members,
It is my great pleasure to announce that our Singapore
branch was launched on the 28 April
2011. Singapore is IOSH’s sixth international Branch, and joins
the ranks of other international Branches in the Caribbean, Hong
Kong, Ireland, the Isle of Man and the Middle East.
IOSH members in Singapore have been having regular gatherings
once a year, since 1997. Since then, memoranda of understanding
have been signed between IOSH and the Singapore Institution of
Safety Officers (SISO) and with the Singapore Contractors
Association (SCAL).
About three years ago, when the Asia Pacific Occupational Safety
and Health Organization (APOSHO) Conference was held in Singapore,
the IOSH President and Networks and International Director began
intensive discussions with our members on the possibility of
establishing a branch in Singapore.
Now, after three years of hard work by our Executive Committee,
as well as support from IOSH, our efforts have come to
fruition.
Our role as IOSH Singapore Branch is
to:
• advance the safety profession in Singapore and the
Asia-Pacific region
• create partnerships with local OSH (occupational safety
health) government agencies, institutions and organisations in
Singapore and the Asia-Pacific region
• carry out OSH-related research work catered to the local and
Asia-Pacific context
• work closely with other international IOSH branches, eg Hong
Kong Branch and Middle East Branch, for the benefit of members’
advancement.
Please see more details of our inaugural event on Thursday 28
April and our seminar on 'OSH solutions to saving lives' on Friday
29 April in our Branch news section.
We welcome your enquiries if you are visiting or plan to work in
Singapore. You can be sure of a warm welcome. Last, but least, we
would appreciate your suggestions on how best to enhance the
development of the Singapore Branch.
Thank you,
Harry Ho, CFIOSH
Chairman
