South East Branch AGM
13 April 2010
April 2010
We held our AGM on 13 April 2010. At the
meeting we gave members a presentation on the progress and
activities of the branch in 2009-2010. We also gave members the
opportunity to elect this year's branch committee members
in accordance with Regulation 15 of the IOSH Corporate
Manual. See the new committee on our committee pages.
Alan Pitt, retiring chair of our branch, thanked the committee
for their hard work during the 2 years of his stint as
chair. In turn, we the committee would like to thank Alan for his
efforts on behalf of the members of our branch.
Natasha Freeman, IOSH past president, gave a very interesting
insight into the workings and priorities of Head Office:
- communication is one of the main topics which will be improved
through upgraded websites
- support for branches will be strengthened through the network
officers and this is already bearing fruit
- IOSH is preparing to raise it’s profile by rebutting
negative attitudes to good health and safety, encouraging the ethos
of tackling real risks and not stopping things in the name of
‘elf ‘n’ safety’ as well as aiming to add an authoritative
presence at any disasters
- there will also be more support for mentoring of branch members
and training for branch officers.
