Meet the Chair

Steve joined Hyder Consulting as the Regional Health and Safety Advisor in 2001. He has over thirty years experience in feasibility study, planning, design, project management and contract administration in both the public and private sectors.

Initially specialising in railway projects Steve spent five years working on commercial and residential buildings before returning to the rail sector where he worked on the Jubilee Line Extension, West Coast Main Line and Thameslink.

In the last fifteen years Steve has concentrated on Health, Safety and Environmental issues where he has developed, implemented and provided training on HS&E Management Systems. Steve has considerable experience of the Construction Design and Management Regulations and has advised clients on the development of systems to implement the regulations. He has also undertaken the role of Planning Supervisor/CDM Co-ordinator on a wide variety of projects.

Steve is a Chartered Structural Engineer, a Chartered Health and Safety Practitioner and is registered on the Construction Health, Safety and Welfare Register. He is also a NEBOSH examiner and a member of the IOSH Council.
