Tyne & Wear Member Elected Vice President

Barry Tupper

At the Institutions September Council meeting elections were held for two vacancies on the Presidential Team. Barry Tupper, Immediate Past Chairman of the Tyne & Wear Branch, along with other candidates, gave a short presentation to the Council Members and then retired for a nervous coffee, awaiting the election results.

Dr Karen McDonnell and Barry Tupper were duly elected to serve for a three year term which commences on the 9th November following the IOSH AGM in Leicester. The Vice Presidents also sit on the Council.

Barry has been a member of IOSH since 1979 and has been an active member of the Tyne & Wear Branch since moving to the area in 1986, holding several Executive positions including Chairman.

Phil Tye, chair of the Tyne & Wear branch for which Barry is the immediate past chair, said he is proud to have a Vice President not only within the branch but within the region and it is a huge accolade to Barry and the branch. He also said that he was delighted that Barry has been elected by the Council and pleased that the Tyne & Wear Branch will now have a voice within the Presidential Team and in Council.

The new Presidential Team from 9th November will be:

  • President – Steve Granger
  • President Elect – Subash Ludhra
  • Immediate Past President – John Holden
  • Six Vice Presidents:
    • Tim Briggs
    • Gerald Hand
