Civil Aviation Authority   CAA   The CAA is the UK's independent specialist aviation regulator.  Its activities include economic regulation, airspace policy, safety regulation and consumer protection.
CAA Aerodrome Standards Department   CAA ASD   The primary role of Aerodrome Standards Department (ASD) is to licence all those aerodromes required under Articles 126 and 128 of the Air Navigation Order
CAA Aviation Health Unit    CAA AHU   The Aviation Health Unit (AHU) ts main role is to advise government, through the Aviation Health Working Group* (AHWG), on passenger and crew health issues
Department for Transport    DfT   The policy lead on transportation in the UK including aviation.
Department for Transport Aviation Health Working Group   DfT AHWG   The AHWG is an interdepartmental organisation, chaired by the DfT with representatives from the CAA, Health and Safety Executive and the Department of Health.  It meets every two months to discuss issues relevant to aviation health and was instrumental in the decision to form the AHU.  
Health & Safety Executive   HSE   Regulator for occupational health & safety in all GB workplaces and work activities. Transportation Section works with the aviation industry to develop and maintain health and safety standards and good practice in airports and airside activities.

Memorandum of Understanding    MoU   Memorandum of Understanding between HSE and CAA setting out enforcement demarcation and arrangements for cooperation
UK Flight Safety Committee   UK FSC   The UK Flight Safety Committee is an unincorporated association of professionals dedicated to the improvement of Commercial Aviation Safety
