Letter from the Chair
11 November 2011
I am really pleased to have been elected as
the new chairman of the Communications and Media Group. I
would like to take this opportunity to say a big thank you to
Graeme Lyall for his chairmanship during the last three
years.
There are over 400 members within the Group
which is aimed at members who work in the communications, media and
broadcasting sectors. Traditionally membership of the group
and committee has been from the communications industry but I am
delighted to welcome Steve Gregory Head of Health and Safety at the
BBC to the committee. I am sure Steve will bring fresh ideas
and encourage other IOSH members within the media sector to join
our group.
To enable you to get to know the committee members better we have
started a series of spotlight features which can be found on the
committee section of our IOSH
pages. Find out how they got involved in the group, their pet
soap box subjects, the interesting parts of their role and much
much more.
The role of the committee is to provide
information and updates on the IOSH website relevant to our
industry and to arrange networking events during the year.
The networking events are a great opportunity to meet like minded
safety professionals, share ideas and best practice, gain some new
contacts and be updated on relevant topics to our
industry.
We welcome your thoughts and ideas on any subjects that you feel
would be valuable to cover and I look forward to seeing you at our
next event that we are planning to hold next April.
As a group I hope we continue to grow in size
over the next three years, and that we remain relevant providing
support to IOSH members in the form of useful information and
updates or just someone to contact if you need advice from a fellow
industry professional.
