Working well together
Working Well Together (WWT) is the
country’s leading construction health and safety campaign,
supported by the construction industry, trade unions and the Health
and Safety Executive. Members of the Construction Group Committee
and IOSH members are regularly involved in the organisation, and
delivery of meetings. A number of the regional WWT groups
have IOSH members on their committees.
Dave Charlton, Construction Group committee member
commented:
"SMEs and micro organisations can
benefit from attending WWT events to find out how they can
improve safety on site and see what new equipment and kit is
available to help them. This is the Industry providing help for the
Industry, with the main purpose of the WWT meetings and events
being to promote a better understanding of health and safety issues
affecting all the industry. This along with sharing expert
knowledge and experience with those who may not have the benefit of
employing an IOSH member, will hopefully reduce the numbers of
serious injuries suffered by construction workers every
year..."
The campaign aims to improve health and safety in the
construction industry, particularly in small and micro
businesses.
To do this the campaign aims to:
- Provide a nationwide network of groups where members can
support and advise each other and share good practice throughout
the industry
- Encourage new members to join the network
- Stage events where at least half the people invited will be
from small businesses (fewer than 15 employees) or micro businesses
(fewer than 5 employees).
There are 16 regional WWT groups providing events, most of which
are free to attend. Find out more about
your local WWT group.
The events give practical, hands-on experience with expert
speakers from the industry. There is usually a demonstration and
exhibition area where you can see the latest equipment and services
to help you and your business. For more information about events
please see the WWT website.
