Multicultural workforce
Employers have a legal responsibility to
provide information, instruction, training and supervision in an
understandable format for all workers, irrespective of their
national origins, first language, or literacy.
In addition, there is a requirement that
employers should not discriminate against workers (including agency
staff) on the grounds of, amongst other things, their race,
colour, nationality, ethnic or national origins, gender,
religion, or religious belief.
These legal requirements led food
and drink industry representatives along with HSE and North
West Food Alliance (now Food Northwest) to develop good
practice guidance for the sector.
