The Construction Group and Retail and Distribution Group have joined together to produce the event 'Retail Refurbishment: fitting safety into shops'. This event promotes best practice and aims to provide practical ideas for improving Health and Safety in this area.

Retailers are still refreshing their stores despite the flat economy. The retail sector is huge: in 2010 there were 286,680 retail outlets in the UK with 11% of the UK workforce. This means the size of the shopfitting sector is much bigger than many people realise  Now is the time to recognise health and safety best practice in this area.
