Experience: Robert is Emeritus Professor and
former Director of the Institute for Science and Society at the
University of Nottingham. He has carried out a wide range of
research projects related to healthcare, law and science and
technology studies. He is author of 23 books, 71 book chapters, 18
monographs and 99 publications in peer reviewed journals. He was
elected to the Academy of Social Sciences in 2002.
Robert’s previous appointments include service
as a member of the Clarke Inquiry into a Professional Body for
Pharmacy (2007-08), the Biotechnology and Biological Sciences
Research Council’s Science for Society Strategy Panel (2007-), and
the Department of Health Committee on Ethical Aspects of Pandemic
Influenza (2006-).
