Our Groups
The IOSH Groups bring together members with
a shared interest or specialist area. Through their Groups, members
can network and exchange information related to their industry
sector, as well as helping IOSH to meet its wider aims. There are
currently 16 Groups.
What are Groups?
Most of the Groups are sector-specific. Each Group is committed
to providing a range of activities to meet the needs of its
members, and each is supported by a committee of volunteers who
plan these activities and make sure the Groups run
smoothly.
Use the links to the left of this page to find out more about a
specific group.
Why should I join a Group?
When you join a Group, you'll get:
- invitations to regular networking events, seminars and site
visits, often at reduced rates
- access to a wide range of advice and information for your
sector
- opportunities to volunteer your skills and knowledge to help
others
- the chance to contribute to legal consultations that have a
direct impact on your industry
- opportunities to join campaigns and projects that champion high
standards in your industry
- help with developing and maintaining your professional
status
- network opportunities with health and safety professionals in
your sector
- the latest best practice from collaboration with other
organisations.
The Group committee
Each Group's committee is made up of volunteers who have
specific skills, expertise and knowledge of the sector. Committee
members are appointed from among the Group's membership and from
external agencies (such as the Health and Safety Executive). The
committee meets periodically to put together and review a plan of
activities. Each committee acts as a focal point for members and as
a link between IOSH head office and its industrial sector.
If you're interested in joining a Group committee, contact the
Groups team or follow the
links from the individual Groups' webpages.
Groups Management Committee (GMC)
The Groups are supported and reviewed by the GMC. The committee
consists of volunteers from the individual Groups' committees and
IOSH staff.
