Hello and welcome to
Connect
Hello and welcome to the first Connect of 2010.
No doubt many of you will have made your New Year resolutions by
now. Some of you may have already broken them!
We’d like to hear from you about what promises you’d make to
champion health and safety this year – we’re using Twitter to
collect promises from both members and stakeholders. So if you have
something to contribute, please let us know by logging onto IOSH’s
Twitter page by Sunday 10 January. You can hear what IOSH President
John Holden promises to do in 2010 on the IOSHchannel.
In this issue of Connect, we look at a common type of fatal
accident in UK workplaces – working at height. We ask what’s
classed as ‘working from height’ and how working at height can be
avoided or even eliminated.
The Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005 places a
requirement to include evacuation plans for people with
disabilities in a fire safety risk assessment. Connect looks at
what the key regulations and standards are, and what organisations
need to do to develop a Personal Emergency Evacuation Plan.
As well as features, Connect carries all the latest news from
the profession as well as important CPD and IPD dates.
Thanks for reading and best wishes for 2010.
