Standing Committees opportunities

Do you want to become more involved with your professional body, help set the strategies and drive the actions that will achieve IOSH’s vision of a world of work that is safe, healthy and sustainable?

If so, there are a number of vacancies for members on two Standing Committees for an initial tenure of 12 months.

You will need to attend approximately four committee meetings a year at IOSH’s Head Office in Leicestershire, and also have time to read documents in preparation for each meeting. All positions are voluntary and IOSH reimburses all reasonable expense.

Professional Committee – Vacancies for Chartered members
The professional Committee act as the guardian of IOSH’s professional standards, including all matters that influence the development and regulation of good OSH practice amongst members; overseas membership issues, Initial Professional Development and Continuing Professional Development matter. Applicants must have experience of occupational safety and health syllabi and qualifications, knowledge of continuing and initial professional development

Research Committee – Vacancy for Corporate member
The Research Committee are responsible for encouraging the submission of bids for research or development funding, reviews submissions and recommends appropriate financial awards to the Board of Trustees. It is responsible for ensuring bids are supportive of IOSH’s corporate strategy and for the sharing of knowledge emerging from completed research projects. Applicants must have experience of evaluating research proposals, commissioning research projects or undertaking academic / professional research in occupational safety and health.

The closing date for all applications is Monday 3 May 2010 with interviews to be conducted by a specially formed selection panel on Friday 18 June 2010.
