IOSH plea on global initiative
22 November 2011
Time is running out for occupational safety
and health to become a major part of a worldwide system for
promoting sustainability.
A perceived lack of interest in OSH means it could be placed low
on the list of priorities in the influential Global Reporting
Initiative (GRI), believes IOSH.
But we believe good, sensible health and safety at work is an
essential part of running a sustainable organisation.
This Thursday (November 24) is the deadline for people to take
part in a survey which will help to shape the GRI
initiative.
IOSH is calling on members to take a few minutes to complete
this
Survey – in particular, the questions which may relate to
health and safety issues.
Head of policy and public affairs Richard
Jones said: “We don’t get many opportunities to influence health
and safety reporting on a global level and it’s absolutely vital
that we maximise this opportunity. It’s important that we don’t let
this chance slip through our fingers.”
