IOSH is calling for members and their
organisations to take part in a survey into accidents and near
misses at work.
IOSH has commissioned Brunel University to conduct the research
with the aim of providing an in-depth look at the health and safety
experiences of today’s ageing workforce.
Luise Vassie, IOSH’s Executive Director of
Policy, said: “The research being conducted will provide us with an
insight into the employee’s stance on workplace accidents.
Whilst the research is open to everyone who
is willing to take part, researchers Alex Farrow and Frances
Reynolds are calling for older workers to take part. In previous
studies this population has been largely underrepresented but, will
bring a wealth of knowledge and experience to this research.”
Participants who take part in the survey will be asked to answer
questions relating to the following areas: experiences of accidents
and near-misses, any discomforts with using computers, challenges
arising from working alone, stressful changes in business ethos and
views on safety management at work.
The survey is anonymous and will take no longer than 15 minutes
to complete, there are no right or wrong answers.
You can access the survey here,
alternatively please request a hard copy of the survey by
contacting Alex
Farrow. You can also write to the School of Health Sciences and
Social Care, Brunel University, Uxbridge, UB8 3PH. The survey is
open until Wednesday 29 June.
