Both courses have been created in PowerPoint. Your feedback told
us that you feel more comfortable using this technology. But since
the design capabilities of PowerPoint are limited, we’re
incorporating more dynamic Flash graphics into the slides.
This gives you the best of both worlds. Flash MX includes
sophisticated animation and fantastic interactive features, while
PowerPoint is the software that most trainers are familiar with and
allows you to insert your own personalised slides seamlessly.
-
What's in the training packs?
-
Each pack includes:
- PowerPoint presentation featuring high impact animated
visuals
- in-depth trainer notes
- practical, user-friendly workbook for delegates
- full range of assessments and model answers
- board game and quizzes.
Managing safely also includes two DVDs – 'Think what if,
not if only' and 'No going back'.
-
How much will I have to pay for the packages?
-
The price is £900 for Working safely and £1500 for
Managing safely.
-
What software do I need to run the course?
-
Both Managing safely and Working safely are
designed to run on PCs already loaded with standard mainstream
software. As part of each package you’ll receive a ‘plug and play’
CD. These courses don’t run on Macs.
The minimum requirements for running the courses are:
- Pentium III, 733 MHz
- 256Mb RAM
- Windows 2000
- PowerPoint 2000
- Flash Player 6.0
If possible, we recommend that you have:
- Pentium IV, 2.0GHz
- 512Mb RAM
- Windows XP
- PowerPoint 2003
- Flash Player 7.0 to 9.0
-
Can I add my company logo?
-
Yes. There's a space specifically designed for you to add your
logo at the beginning of each programme. There’s also a space in
the front of the workbook for you to add your own company
details.
-
If I don’t want to purchase the ‘off the shelf’ package, will I
still be able to write my own material?
-
Yes, you can still write your own material in the same way that
you do now, but because we’re introducing some new topics and
realigning the content, you’ll need to bring your course in line
with the new syllabus.
-
If I want to write my own material do I have to produce it in
Flash?
-
No, you can use whatever medium suits you best.
-
Will I be expected to use the IOSH assessments even if I write
my own material?
-
Yes, to make sure that all training delivered under the IOSH
banner is consistent. These are included in the approval fee.
-
I'm writing my own material. Do trainers still have to meet
your standards?
-
Our trainer standards haven't changed. All trainers must
have:
- a Qualifications and Curriculum Authority-recognised health and
safety qualification at national level 3 – for example, Vocational
Qualification level 3 or a National Examination Board in
Occupational Safety and Health Certificate
- at least two years’ training experience with a minimum 50 per
cent face-to-face delivery.
-
How much are the delegate workbooks?
-
The stylish delegate workbooks cost £14 for Working
safely and £17 for Managing safely. They are in a
user-friendly format, professionally printed in full colour on
high-quality paper and card, and wirobound.
-
Can we print off the delegate workbook from the CD-ROM?
-
Yes, you can, but please note that it must be printed in colour.
The workbook is in colour throughout and includes elements which
are identified by their colour, such as health and safety signs.
It’s unlikely a normal laser printer will be able to match the
quality of the professionally printed workbooks, so we recommend
that you buy your workbooks direct from us – it will also save you
a lot of time, paper and toner!
-
Can I add my own PowerPoint slides?
-
Yes. The courses are very flexible and we encourage you to add
slides to suit your audience. To help, we’ve included a template
slide and several graphics to make your presentation seamless.
If you want to add your own slides, please send them to the
training verifier team for approval before you use them. This is
part of our quality control process to make sure that delegates get
the best possible training.
-
What do successful Working safely delegates get?
-
A certificate or passport card.
